  • Portuguese Podenga urgently waiting for a forever home

Portugal podenca Didi 1 400 6 2016This gorgeous young Podenga Portuguese is Didi and desperately needs a forever family. Jackie Dias tells her story.

This is DIDI, she is up for adoption and it is needed urgently. She was found abandoned in Monte Abraão-Queluz, close to Sintra in Portugal. After being taken to the vet there was no sign of any identification on her: chip, collar etc.

She weighs around 9 kgs, is around 1 year old and SUPER SWEET! She is healthy but was found with some sores on the pads of her paws meaning she must have walked a long way!

DIDI is about to be spayed and is ready for adoption very soon. If anyone is interested please contact: Manuela Feliciano – litamoura@clix.pt Location: Sintra, Portugal

  • Portugal – podenca puppies saved from a cruel death

Portugal Lira 2 250 4 5 2013These two tiny podencas were found yesterday by a farmer. They were inside a rubbish bag, tied up, left in a field to die. Taken into the care of Teresa Sousa and her team, they have been to the vet and have been wormed. Now called Pipa and Lira. Teresa would be grateful to anyone who could sponsor their vaccinations and to apply to adopt one. Please paypal adoptions to portugaldogrescue@gmail.com (sorry the pix aren’t very good quality)

Regarding Esperança, the municipal vet, who is friends with Teresa, has issued Esperanca’s owner a fine (that’s the most he can do, as it was a first offence, at least legally), and the man is now appealing, claiming he is too poor and cannot afford the fine. Video Esperanca & babies, 7 in all.
