This is the lovely Luna; she’s with Macu in Seville. She’s about 2 years old, medium sized Podenca Andaluz, was rescued a year ago with a rope round her neck, was fearful of everything. She’s now ready for adoption; wormed, vaccinated and sterilized; she’s fine with cats, other dogs and people. She is loving and obedient and just wants someone to love her. Macu works tirelessly saving galgos and podencos from a gypsy camp. In order to carry on, she needs her rescued dogs to be adopted. If you are interested, please contact Macu, or Carmina – who speaks English.

Give Podencos in Valencia perrera an Xmas present – the gift of life
Two more yound podencos on death row in Valencia. I simply fail – after 6 years – to understand the Spanish mindset of disposing of digs to a killing station if you don’t want them. These two are young….heartbreaking. I’d adopt them all, but I can’t afford it…oh to win the lottery!
This big guy (brown) is a male, very good and kind. He is about 3 years old and larger in size. He is so depressed he barely gets up, looks at you, just makes a ball on the floor, very sorry because it seems like he knows that it is difficult to get out. PLEASE HELP.
The white hound, Ibizan hound is beautiful. Very tall and beautiful. She holds her tail between her legs, but still smells your approaching hand. She is a young lady, like most hounds, we believe that she is less than one and a half (roughly) year. Beautiful, much more than it appears in photos.

Valencia killing station – Please give these podencos the Gift of Life for Christmas
Podencos in Valencia killing station, please is there an association which can save them?
Two podencos – the little podenca puppy (the taller brown) is still inside but no one asks for her. She is loving and very curious, super funny with hazel eyes, if you look you see the pain that she feels.
The petite podenquita tan, is female, six years old, the owner does not want it, too old to hunt. She is a bit timid, but she’s a lovely dog, loving and kind. Hopefully someone will notice her.
(Pic below) The Galgo has left but the smooth Ibizan is still there. She is young, super affectionate, gentle and playful, about 8 months old.

Could you do dog rescue in Spain?
I have to admit to being somewhat upset. Not for myself, I hasten to add, but on behalf of my friends in Spain and elsewhere in Europe. I’m talking about the amazing animal rescue volunteers, rehomers, fosterers – everyone involved in helping abandoned and injured animals in Spain. Regular readers will know how often I praise these people – they work tirelessly against terrible odds, risking their health, their relationships, threats to themselves, their families, their homes. I’ve visited them in Spain over the past few years and seen what they do, every day, every week, every year – no letup. Read on

Cordoba podencos needing forever homes
Lovely video of the Baas Galgo podencos which were in the Villa del Rio shelter, Cordoba. The association was given notice to leave by the beginning of November (nothing the association had done wrong, the place is owned by galgueros!) If you can offer a forever home to any of the pods, contact the associations on the video, direct.

Cordoba, 3 young podencos – desperate situation, please anyone!
Appeal in today.HELP desperate: The spoils of hunting in Cordoba. Story from the volunteer.
‘This is what hunting brings, hundreds of abandoned animals when they can no longer serve, whatever age, race or sex. This is an urgent case, like everyone else, but it’s terrible to see them thus knowing what they are going through. They are 3 podencos: one male and two females, all very young.
They are abandoned in an industrial estate where it is common to have clandestine sheds where hunters breed dogs and have them without seeing the light of day, only when they take them to hunt, in sub-human conditions. When they do not hunt, this is what happens: begging in the area, skin and bones, hardly having the breath to survive.

Podenca Andaluz, Murcia – slashed down the back!
You may remember Lucia, a Podenca Andaluz whose back had been sliced from shoulder to tail and left to heal on its own. this little podenco is similar in looks and size and not far from the same area where Lucia was abandoned. Bev Farmer reports.
‘I had a call from a golf course about a podenco that had been there for a couple of months.
We went to try and catch her, nearly caught her 3 times but it was not to be and after 8 hours and night time we called it a day. Tried again the following day but she had learnt that if she follows the golf carts, the players feed her, so she leads us a merry dance so no joy. Have left strict instruction they are not to feed her and we will try again tomorrow.

Podencos urgently need lifesavers – Badajoz and Toledo!
Heartbreaking stories – Jim is a young podenco on death row in Badajoz perrera, due to be killed on 29th November. Toledo is where the other little podenco is injured and in danger. Here are their stories.
JIM is a young podenco medium size, very affectionate but nervous – of course, he’s wondering why he is in the perrera. In the video you can see he wants to be friends, in a few days in foster or adoption he would be a happy hound again. If he stays where he is, he will soon be wet, cold and frightened. Please help! He will be murdered on 29th November. SOS Perrera Badajoz 29th November Contact buck_greywolf@hotmail.com
And this little young podenco was abandoned long ago in a village;
