    It’s a long time since I left.
    The truth is that I was never happy, always treated me badly.
    I lived in a place surrounded and with a small roof to get out of the cold and the rain.
    I’m just out to hunt, until one day they stopped doing it.
    I don’t run long enough for that person to whom I belonged.
    A few days later they took me in the middle of the field with another dog like me and they cut us loose.
    I didn’t know what to do, whether to run, or wait until my master gave me an order.
    I was disoriented.
    I’ve never lived through a similar situation.

  • PODENCO PATERNINO of Huelva Province – Edy for adoption

    Huelva podenco Edy 170 2Edy – a special and unusual black and white podenco boy who longs to be loved, but is still so shy and nervy and would need a very gentle patient family to build his confidence. Edy was in the kill pound in Valencia and saved by volunteers, he is safe in a kind kennels in Spain but he has got quite stuck and as he only knows rural kennels (for far too long) is very scared of anyone or anything new. But he is the most handsome gentle boy and would become your most wonderful friend. Will you show Edy that he is NOT invisible and that he too can have a loving family of his own, a sofa, soft bed and fabulous walks. Please contact pollymathewson@hotmail.com

  • Valencia Container dogs…update

    ACTIN Container dogs 250 18 7 2015Here is the latest news from ACTIN about the situation for the container dogs. Permission now given to publicise this. Please continue to support ACTIN‘s legal team, a successful outcome for this case can be a precedent for use in the whole of Spain!

    ‘The owners have kept their dogs in the container for 5 years, we are trying to find out about previous dogs. Actin was only informed of this 2 months ago. Previous denuncias and complaints in the past, since 2010, have had no effect. Right now there are 4 dogs and 1 puppy inside; we can report some positive changes. The dogs have food and water, this has improved. The owners have coated the inside of the container with a material to regulate temperature, heat inside is the same as outside; we are not satisfied with this, BUT it is 20 degrees less than it would have been.

  • Jaen, Spain – House of Horror

    Jaen house of horrors room 4 250These podencos were discovered in a finca – chained to the wall so they could barely even lie down – in filth, starving…a denuncia has been made and authorities contacted to help them. A couple were rescued but then the volunteers were accused of trespassing! A petition has been raised to demand the authorities take action against the owner and save the dogs. Please sign and share it.

  • Last Hope Dog Rescue – podencos waiting for forever homes

    First up is Izzy, a 13 week old Podenco Maneto and will be small when fully grown, about the size of a Jack Russell. She s fully vaccinated and passported and is adorable and full of fun .

    Madison (brown & white) is 5 months old and was saved form the hands of a vet who had her tied to a wall for ten days waiting to put her to sleep! She is an adorable Podenco mix and is very very loving and playful. She sleeps on the sofa in the living room at night and is a very chilled wee girl. She is passported and fully vaccinated

  • Podenca Andaluz, Murcia – slashed down the back!

    Bev Pod back scars 250 11 2012You may remember Lucia, a Podenca Andaluz whose back had been sliced from shoulder to tail and left to heal on its own. this little podenco is similar in looks and size and not far from the same area where Lucia was abandoned. Bev Farmer reports.

    ‘I had a call from a golf course about a podenco that had been there for a couple of months.

    We went to try and catch her, nearly caught her 3 times but it was not to be and after 8 hours and night time we called it a day. Tried again the following day but she had learnt that if she follows the golf carts, the players feed her, so she leads us a merry dance so no joy. Have left strict instruction they are not to feed her and we will try again tomorrow.
