Podenco saved from a ravine in Murcia – Galgos del Sol to the rescue
A year or so back I published a story about a galgo rescued from a ravine by Baas Galgo. This time it’s a podenco stuck down a deep ravine, rescued by Galgos del Sol with the help of a local fireman. Judging from the skeletal condition of the poor hound, he’d been down there a while. Sometimes the dogs fall down these ravines when hunting, but at this time of year…no hunting…looks like his journey there was a different story. Now he’s safe, very tired, recovering with GdS. The fireman named him Moses. Here are the photos of his rescue.

Reflections on the Bullas, Murcia, rescue on 9th March 2012 – 120 dogs
Regular readers will have been following the two large rescues carried out in Murcia in January and February 2012, namely at a gypsy camp with 74 dogs, and Bullas with 120 dogs. Vivienne Wharton lives near Cartegena, Murcia and has written about her experiences with the Bullas rescue on 9th March 2012.
The shame in Spain
I recently started my activities in a facebook group – Animal Welfare Support Murcia, whilst waiting for my Association, Actin, to be registered by the Town Hall. Actin – Animal Care Treatment International Network is not a rescue charity but an Association which will endeavor to make changes to the overwhelming situation of abandoned and neglected dogs, cats and other domestic animals in the region. We plan to do this through many activities including education and campaigns.

Bullas, Murcia – podencos rescued and now safe
Viv Wharton of Animal Welfare Support Murcia was one of the dozens of volunteers who travelled to Bullas, Murcia, on 9th March 2012, to help in the rescue of over 70 dogs remaining of the 120 in the compouund. This photo is of a few of them, relaxing in safety. Here’s what Viv says about the day.
‘Not an easy day at Bullas but nonetheless successful with the rescue of 8 Podencos. Not easy as we saw first hand how hard those decisions were; great work Little Pod Foundation and Podenco Friends and the volunteers; Little Pod Foundation who were responsible for undertaking the rescue of these pods were professional but passionate and I have great admiration for them.

Operation Rehala, Murcia – 120 dogs at risk – the whole story
24 hours to save the dogs from Bullas
6 March 2012
by Irene CrespoYes, the authorities only granted 24 hours to rescue all the dogs in Bullas (Murcia) and out of the hell where they are. Removing the remaining 70 dogs in that situation in 24 hours … Mission Impossible?
Well this is not the first bureaucratic difficulty with which foundationn Pro-Setter (The association that is coordinatating the rescue of these animals) and volunteers from other organizations that work with them are encountering.

Bullas, Murcia – 50 podencos need getting out – Pro-Setter Spain organising, please help
I’ve just had news that there are still 50 podencos which need getting out of the camp in Bullas, Murcia, where the owner has been denounced and Seprona have said the dogs will be put down if they are not rescued. Here’s some pix of them. It’s a mammoth task as all the dogs rescued need flea and tick treatment, some have diahorrea, some are sick, most are malnourished.
