    Many of you will remember Vivienne as a tireless worker on behalf of the animals in Spain. Her partner Dan is a gifted creator of fabulous mosaics, many of which adorn the walls of hotels, restaurants, bars in Spain, as well as running courses at Tara Casa. Vivienne is now working in mosaic too, raising funds for dog rescue.

  • Braveheart – ACTIN in action again

    Valiente 1 250 14 5 2015Less than a week ago (May 2015) one of Actin’s team was contacted and asked to investigate this terrible case; a dog tied up on a chain in a hidden cave in a horrible town in Murcia where animals are treated like garbage…

    On arrival they found this most pathetic and sad sight and because of what he suffered they named him Valiente, (Brave). Valiente attached to a short chain, old, skinny, sick and hardly able to move, the saddest of souls. He was about to give up, the rescuers were just in time to help him – before he succumbed to his life of misery.

    Valiente is about 10 years old, so sad to think someone had him living this hell for all his life and caused him to be in such pain and endure such suffering. His condition as diagnosed by the vet; arthritis atrophy, osteoarthritis atrophy, cachexy, and sclerosis in the eye, amazingly he is not positive for leishmania.

  • Podenco Friends – Bev Farmer tells her story

    Bev Tilly 250It’s 10 years since Bev Farmer first met Tilly and so began her journey into the world of the podencos – life was never to be the same! Bev tells her story.

    10 years ago this month I encountered my very first Podenco. We had suddenly lost one of our dogs and called into a local shelter. Tilly was curled up in ball shivering and looking so vulnerable, so yes we will have her. She had been discovered in a large refuse bin covered in rubbish with one of her front legs badly broken.

    So, having absolutely no idea what a “Podenco” was, we took her home.

  • Cartagena, Spain, 2012 – hunters STILL hang galgos

    This is a link to an article about a man who was out for a walk and came across two hanged galgos. It’s in Spanish, haven’t had time to translate it. If anyone can do so, your help will be appreciated.
