  • Podencos urgently need lifesavers – Badajoz and Toledo!

    Badajoz podenco Jim 250 11 2012Heartbreaking stories – Jim is a young podenco on death row in Badajoz perrera, due to be killed on 29th November. Toledo is where the other little podenco is injured and in danger. Here are their stories.

    JIM is a young podenco medium size, very affectionate but nervous – of course, he’s wondering why he is in the perrera. In the video you can see he wants to be friends, in a few days in foster or adoption he would be a happy hound again. If he stays where he is, he will soon be wet, cold and frightened. Please help!   • Badajoz – abandoned, injured, desperately needing foster and adoption

    White pod 1 250 7 2012Another injured podenco no longer wanted by the hunter. Urgently needs a foster or adoption, if any associations can help.

    ‘Hello I am a perrita of approximately seven months that due to a break of the right paw my proprietor (Hunter) already does not need me,

    I am very young but I already have one of my paws fractured, he was forcing me to cover to run and to run and due to the effort that it was doing I broke the sinews…
    also I have been hurt by pellets in the body, he did that to make me scare and run faster!

They try their best for their masters – and mistresses – and are rewarded by being dumped – anywhere – busy roads, down wells, on the campo with broken legs, in the killing stations. Killing stations – barking dogs, stressed dogs, some of the worst perreras don’t believe in feeding dogs to be killed, water is green – I’ve the reports and photos on my weblogs.     This is Reina, an Ibizan Podenca, probably no more than a year old. She appeared at Easter on the streets of Valencia. She has been rescued and is currently in a foster home. She is sweet and loving, submissive at the moment but with care and love, her character will emerge.

    Cadiz pod 1 04 2011 250 This is Johnny, a podenco X. He had been running around the roads for 4 days! He has an injured foreleg which has been put in a splint by the vet. He now needs a foster home where he can recover. He is very kind, needs feeding and care and a forever home, of course.

  • Extremadura hunters – Fepaex says ‘Take Responsibility for your Dogs!

    Extremadura hunter fepaex.org 02 2011 250 Podencos and galgos both suffer unimagineable cruelty at the hands of the Spanish hunters and gitanos – Spanish gypsies.  Most publicity comes from the regions of Andalucia and Murcia, as well as the Spanish Islands Ibiza and the Canary Islands.  However, the Spanish interior including the region of Extremadura is also hell on earth for galgos and podencos.  Here is a report from Fepaex – Federacion de Protectoras de Animales de Extremadura.
