  • Looking for an Angel? Angel in Waiting. Adopt an Angel

Angela octubre 190This gorgeous podenca is ready now to completely slot into your family. Here’s her appeal from 112carlotagalgos.

    ‘Angela Angelica.

Angela, what can I say? She has been with us now a year, she has never complained she has never cried. Rescued from rejection, and yet rejected again. For as much as her galguero threw her out, her precious babies left behind, she was wandering around with chronic mastitis and a broken heart. Healed of such at 112 carlota galgos, she is rejected again for adoptants just don’t see her! Here she is peeking over Mariposa’s back, this is Angela.

  • Malaga – walking the streets in Protest!

Malaga protest group 1 250 2 2012Traffic in Malaga was today brought to a standstill when animal lovers in Andalucia took to the streets to protest about animal cruelty in Spain and in particular the plight of the galgos at the hands of the hunters. It’s at this time of year that the galgueros get rid of their dogs – upwards of 50,000 every year. The protestors wore black, many of the dogs wore black collars and scarves. Well done, everyone. • Malaga – Podenca Ana seeks your help

Ana 3 Charl 250 1 2012Do you remember the story of Ana, the podenca near Valencia, with a badly injured hind leg and who was so distrustful of humans that it took nearly 3 months to catch her. During that time she had some pups – who are in foster – and is now safe with 112carlotagalgos.

Ana’s problems were not over after she was caught. Vet Paco examined her injured leg and pronounced it too damaged to repair, then she caught an infection, and now she has had to have surgery to remove her leg. But not to worry, 3-legged amputees can run as fast as 4-legged if they want to! Charl tells Ana’s story so far.

  • Podenca Andaluz Lucy – abandoned in Malaga, forever in Holland

Lucy Malaga airport 250 2 25 1 2012Little Podenca Andaluz Lucy was rescued by Susanna from the side of a railway track. She suffered serious injury from being attacked by a larger dog, but has made a marvellous recovery, thanks to the work of 112carlotagalgos and Paco, their vet. Podencoworld in Holland had an offer of a foster home for Lucy and on 25th January, Lucy and four other lucky podencos flew from Malaga airport to Holland. Because Lucy only weight 8 kilos, she went as ‘hand luggage’!

Here are some photos of Lucy at the airports, including Susanna, her rescuer, and a lovely video of her playing in her foster home, the day after her arrival. Good luck Lucy, you will soon find your forever family.

  • Little Podenca Andaluz Lucy, lucky to survive an horrendous attack

Lucy accident 250 4 12 2011You may remember little podenca Lucy, recently rescued from beside a railway track. She was going through the process of having her EU passport prepared when she was the victim of a terrible attack by bigger dogs which nearly killed her. The second such incident I have reported recently.

She has umpteen wounds and stitches all over her body; she has a puncture wound almost on the jugular – a little bit closer and Lucy would not be with us. A miracle that she is.
