  • Tiny Podenco Nero hoping for a forever home

    Elderley podenco 400 1 2022
Appeal for help for a very sweet little podenco.

‘We are urgently looking for a home for Nero, a 9 year old senior podenco male. He is currently staying at EBA in Spain . He was found on the street by volunteers with a broken eye (which has been removed) and a wound in his neck.

Nero is a great dog despite all he’s been through. Extremely sweet, social, and cheerful and can be with other dogs and kids. . (Mits who are used to dealing with dogs, of course) . He weighs 10 kg.

Who will give this adorable podenco a warm forever home?

For more information send an EMAIL to rescani@gmail.com. We ALWAYS work with a questionnaire, telephone screening and home visits . So please only respond if you are willing to.

NB He is similar size to my little Bebe who lived to 18 years old recently, so Nero has plenty of years ahead of him.

  • Little Souls – a thought for all the lost podencos

    Podenco poster 400 14 9 2014
“There is a sacredness in tears. They are not a mark of weakness, but of power.
They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are the messengers of overwhelming grief, of deep contrition and of unspeakable love.” Washington Irving

    Little Souls

    “Hello, are you hearing me,
most times I really don’t know,
it seems like you begin to,
then it seems like you don’t,
so how is a Hound to know.

I hope it just brings you to tears,
    seeing all those little souls,
    filled with fear,
and I wish I was blind,
yeah, I really wish I was blind,
watching cruel win out… over kind.

  • Spare a thought for the dogs in perreras and shelters at Christmas

    Cage podenco love 3 2017 400
Please spare a thought for me.
I’m one of thousands in the pound this Christmas
Please spare a thought for me
I’m in prison just because of my breed.
    I’ve never done anything wrong
I love my family and they love me
Please spare a thought for me.

I am a stray wandering the streets
    starving, lonely, cold and scared
Please spare a thought for me
I’m a puppy left at the bins to die
Please spare a thought for me
I’m living in a cage in a laboratory
I test your cosmetics and medications,
my skin is burned to better understand healing
    I will die in here.
Please spare a thought for me

  • Send healing thoughts to Bev Farmer and Podenco Pinto

    Bev Pinto 12 12 400
    From Bev.

‘its not good news for Pinto

The scan revealed two masses one is the lymph node and a second much bigger one which is not regular in shape. They took biopsies to be sent to the labs so we wait to hear, but we think the worse, that it is cancer. The scan showed the bigger mass is maybe attached to the main artery so it would not possible to operate and would need to a MRI to confirm this.

This morning my vets were surprised to hear Pinto is 14 years old. They thought he was a lot younger and commented what wonderful condition he is in he was alert and bright, his heart and lungs strong. For the moment they have sent him home with medication until we get the lab results they can do no more.
