  • La Sonrisa Peluda – Podenco waiting forever for a forever home

    Flaky 400 12 2022
Flaky is a stunning podenco, completely invisible in the eyes of the world.

No one wants to “complicate” life by adopting an “escape” dog.. Flaky can NOT be let go, he might as well jump a wall.. We do not know his previous “life” and he is NOT afraid, but if he is very curious.

The great disgrace is to be born a Podenco in Spain. 5 long years waiting, hopefully Christmas is magical as they say.

Flaky is one of those podencos who spend years and years in a shelter and no one notices them despite being absolutely wonderful. The only thing he doesn’t tolerate is cats, otherwise he is affectionate, playful, sociable, teaches shy little ones to play, loves walks and children. He’s 6 and a half years old and has been waiting for more than 4 in our shelter after his previous mom died.

Will you help us give Flaky the life he deserves? He weighs only 10 or 12 kilos filled with LOVE

  • Seville – podenco starving on the street

    Carmina starving 2 400
Many years ago I need help to get a small galgo puppy from Pepis Refuge Pedrera and lovely Carmina Alvarez-Rea in Seville was able to help with a stopover for Polar to be picked up by the official transport. She recently appealed for someone to takes this poor starving podenco off the street.

Luckily she has now been taken to safety with the Seville Association ‘Speak for them Lebrja – Hablo por ellos Librija. This is a lucky podenca to be safe, so many are still abandoned and starving on the streets of Spain.

If you can help with vet expenses, they will be very grateful.

  • Tribute to the wonderful Podenco

    Tribute to the Podenco 400 11 2022
The podenco dog categorized as a type of hunting dog, has its origin in Ancient Egypt and later spread to the Mediterranean coasts by the Phoenicians. His appearance resembles a jackal or the image of the Egyptian god Anubis.

Of an exceptional beauty, proud print the podenco has suffered in its own bodies the stigma of being categorized as a hunting dog and being used as an instrument for it, without having any consideration for its character and sensitivity. but his hunter ability has not wrecked him as animal of company in the home…

  • Podencos In Need Scotland – podencos waiting for forever homes

    PINS 1 400 11 2022
From the PINS page on facebook.

‘These are some of the pods currently in Paradise kennels, with whom we work closely. As we have so many dogs under our care both in Spain, in paid accommodation, and in foster in the UK, we can’t take on any further dogs specifically as “PINS dogs”. However, we can share some of the dogs who are in the same residencias as our dogs and are currently looking for homes.

PINS will be able to arrange the adoptions in the same way as always, however, we can’t bring these dogs over to foster, they need to go straight to forever homes, as we simply don’t have the funds to cover their prep and travel without an adoption fee to help offset the costs.

If you would like to apply to adopt one of these lovelies, please complete the form on this weblink and we will send more info.

  • Galgos 112 – starving podenca in Castellon now safe

    Galgos 112 pod 1 400 11 2022
    From Galgos 112

‘On Sunday we received the notice of this podenca in very bad condition in a town of Castellón. Luckily Paula who saw her didn’t hesitate for a second to pick her up as soon as we said we’d take care of her. NALU, that we called her is admitted, she had a high fever and could barely eat, she has medication in her veins and after a couple of days her fever has gone down about tenfolds and she has eaten a little bit.

Waiting on results from all the tests that have been done on her.

Thank you so much Paula, thank you Jennifer for taking her in as soon as she recovers. And as always it’s our turn to ask for help to pay for her income and treatment. Without your contributions we cannot save lives. Thank you!

  • Fundacion Benjamin Mehnert, Seville – overflowing with podencos needing forever homes

    The great forgotten ones…

When we think of dogs abandoned for hunting, we always think of galgos. But… what about all those podencos that are also used and thrown away by hunters?

    https://www.facebook.com/FundacionBenjaminM/videos/1864172617254413“>Watch the video

At the Benjamin Mehnert Foundation, there are hundreds of them waiting for an opportunity, a helping hand, a family..

If only we were guided by the heart, adoptions wouldn’t understand color or race.

If we would only look into her eyes..

Adopt a podenco. Save a life.

Help us continue to save lives.
