Yet another stunning photo by Bev Farmer of Podenco Friends. This is Anubis who was taken to visit his vet because of concerns that he was not gaining weight. So many dogs are afraid of their vet. Anubis is the opposite, he has complete faith. If you would like to help Bev and Warren with the dozens of podencos in their care, needing vet treatment, paypal podencofriends@hotmail.co.uk

Podenca Canario Angelique – moving on with life
Three lovely videos which show how Angelique is coping with life after losing both her eyes after the maltreatment of the bastard hunter who beat her about the head. A wonderful illustration of how a dog forgives…humans could learn a lot from a dog.

Update on the 90 Mogan podencos
Update from Canary Animal Rescue. (Internet translation)
We found them!!!!!!!!!!!
The dogs are located in the municipality of slides, in facilities of recent construction, which shows the premeditation with this “Sir” Acts. We’ve been waiting all morning to that, on the one hand, the official of the department of health of the city of Mogan and of another, the local police of that town hall, kindly fax over the order of confiscation of the animals to the police. Local of slides, so that these can act… And a moment ago we were told that they are not going to do anything!!!!!

Nightmare in Mogan, Gran Canaria — seeking podencos and justice for them!
You may remember I reported a situation in Mogan, Gran Canaria, where about 90 podencos were incarcerated in metal cages in a remote valley. Yesterday a team of volunteers and members of the municipality went to the site to take the dogs. They found the cages empty, frightened podencos roaming around the valley. Here’s the story as posted on facebook. I’ve asked for a ‘polite’ letter in Spanish for us to send to the Mayor of Mogan to encourage him to search for the owner of the dogs and prosecute him. Will run the campaign when I receive it.

Room for a Reindenco? Lola is with TheKennelKlub on Lanzarote, Canary Islands.
LOLA was rescued from the same owner as ANGELIQUE just over a week ago. She is getting more confident, putting weight on nicely and her skin is slowly improving. She is a lovely dog, really affectionate and she loves to be loved. She is 8 years old so quite calm for a Podenco Canario. She is also small for her breed, currently 16 kilos. She gets on well with other dogs and children and is really friendly. She will be looking for a great home soon so please let us know if you are interested.
She is a new breed that has been discovered on the island of Lanzarote this year – a Reindenco! They are bundles of pure sweetness. Does anyone have room for a Reindenco in there home? PLEASE SHARE, she is with TheKennelKlub.

No justice for these babies!
These three tiny podenco puppies have been dumped in the perrera…for killing. It’s no place for puppies, unvaccinated, no chance against diseases rampant in the kennels. Sickening that the hunters care nothing for these tiny innocent souls, such a cavalier disregard to how precious every life is. Whoever took them there, turned their back and walked away is inhuman.

Update on Angelique, the blind podenca in Lanzarote
Update 10 12 2015
ANGELIQUE – thanks to Natalie she is getting more confident every day. Just 2 and a half weeks after her surgery, she is happily negotiating her way around using just her nose. Stairs, playing dogs, she takes it all in her stride and with a waggy tail! What an inspiration this gorgeous girl is, a miracle, an example of how amazing the Podenco breed is!
