Podenca Thelma – safe from a hunting future

Thelma…… SOS
This is the youngest podenca of a hunter who fortunately is hospitalized in the hospital, fortunately he can’t take care of it, and fortunately in his family there is no successor hunter.
He collapsed and the person who was doing everything he could to find all of them, going to check the situation in the shitty place they were kept, took Thelma and took her to the vet.
9.5 kg, covered, dehydrated, with fleas and anemic. But thanks to her young age, liver and kidneys are fine. And she hasn’t got heartworm. Luckily, the hunter’s vet said she will be fine.
Fingers crossed she is soon adopted.

TheKennelKlub & Podenco Friends – working together for the Lanzarote podencos
One year ago (2016) Laura Johnson sent me a video of a number of Podencos handed into a perrera on Lanzarote.. Until then both of us had been quietly working together for a couple of years rescuing some of the Podencos on the Island… We felt it was time to raise the profile of the situation and the group “Saving the Lanzarote Podencos” was created.
The perrera they are handed into is one of the bleakest places imaginable, the dogs are crammed into small kennels in a tiny building, there is no where for them to be let out, that is where they stay until the obligatory 21 days pass and if not rescued then can be euthanised.

6 podencos in Jaen – ready for adoption now
These 6 podencos were living in a home with their Mom. sadly she is now too ill to care for them and is living in a convent of nuns. These podencos were family pets, so are ready for adoption now. 6th Fun Dog Show, St Pardoux – Sunday 3rd September 2017
I’ve been very busy these last few days organising and setting up for our 6th Fun Dog Show at our home in France, raising much-needed funds for Pepis Dog Refuge, Pedrera, Seville. Here’s a video I took of the showground and Best Crossbreed class. The judge was M Jean-Pascal Bichon, sponsors Blevins Franks for rosettes and souvenir programme and Pro-Nutrition Flatazor for the dog prizes.
My galga Carmela and Podenca Andaluz Bebe were both entered in the Best Veteran over 7 years old but unplaced, and galgo Polar entered Most Obedient – just missing out on a rosette.

Podenco Canario Louis…now safe and on the road to recovery
This is Louis found wandering alone in the northern region of Lanzarote. He is about 1 to 2 years old, really friendly but very thin.. But rather than him go to the perrera, they have agreed for him to go directly to Laura Johnson of the Kennel Klub so he will get all the care he needs straight away. Aas always we have to wait 21 days in the event his owner comes forward, but once that expires we can make plans for him to come over to us in Murcia and he will be available for adoption.
