    ‘Our story

    In the year 2005 my dear rescue dog, that I had adopted in 1990 from the shelter in Tenerife, died at the age of 15. I was heart broken and swore that I would never ever have another dog. However on the Internet I came across a rescue organization that had been rescuing dogs from Estonia since 2001. I was surprised that they had also few pictures of the Spanish dogs on their page. That of course got my attention as my deceased dog had been from Spain.

  • Finland – sending a rescue dog for rehoming – consider very seriously before sending it

    Many podencos, galgos and greyhounds (from Ireland) are adopted in Norway and Sweden without a problem. However Finland is further north. I am disturbed by the news that a podenco from Galgos del Sur went to Finland for adoption believing there was no problem for the podenco – the Finnish authorities are being very difficult about it, and the podenco is not allowed to be rehomed. The podenco is still in Finland whilst an association tries to rehome him. (Bloody bureacrats!) So, anyone wanting to know more about the problems for importing a rescued dog to Finland for adoption, here are some links.

  • Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, to Helsinki, Finland – are you flying this route soon?

    An appeal for help from TARA on Gran Canaria.

    ‘We have wonderful new homes waiting for equally wonderful dogs in Finland (thank you Sanna, Rita, and all the rest of the fabulous Fins who are reaching out to help someone – dogs, cats, humans)!

    What is needed now is folks flying from Las Palmas, Gran Canaria to Helsinki – the sooner the better.
