Whilst there is only one type of galgo, there are many different types of podencos. Most of the best known are listed on Podenco Post homepage. However, there are pockets of Spain and Portugal where the locals have evolved their own ‘type’ of podenco, and Electra is one such, a Xarnego Valencia.

The Xarnego Valencia is a local podenco dog race in Valencia. Its main function is to hunt rabbits and other types of small game; it is endowed with supreme attitude and perfectly adapted to the variety of different terrains and ecosystems that exist in the entire Mediterranean area.
