  • Fuerteventura – top accommodation, sea views, great food!

200 dogs Fuerteventura 250 7 3 2012Ok, so now you’ve had the horror of Bullas, the gypsy camp also in Murcia, La Bienvenida refuge at Ciudad Real (got to lose 150 dogs as being moved to a smaller site) and now it’s the turn of the Canary Islands. Have you been there on holiday? Bet you haven’t seen this, on Fuerteventura! 200 dogs! Here’s a translation.

PUERTO DEL ROSARIO (FUERTEVENTURA), 7 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Protectora of Animals and Plants of Fuerteventura “OKAPI” has made an urgent desperate appeal for help to save 200 dogs that are on the verge of starvation, in the municipal perrera. Whilst trying to find a new facility in which to develop their work, the situation is hopeless, because there are not even the resources to continue feeding the animals. They need urgent adoption, sterilization and, above all, collaboration to clean and feed the animals, in addition to financial support or donations of food for animals.

A concentrated effort is being made to catch them but, as you can imagine, after all this time, it won’t be easy. TARA shelter on Gran Canaria sent the news. I’ve asked them to let me know if the podencas are caught. And if you go on holiday to Gran Canaria, go and see the shelter at Mogan, they are always pleased to see people interested in their work.
