Animales Rioja urgently need help to feed the dogs…
From Pilar. ‘We are writing to you to ask for your help VERY URGENT for our economic plight, as the construction of the new shelter has emptied the coffers and we are in the red at the bank. We cannot keep building, do not even have money to feed the dogs or take some of them who are waiting for the vet to see. It is very serious and distressing even € 10.00 will help. Animales Rioja – podencos desperately needing foster and forever homes
Further to the appeal from Animales Rioja for donations to pay for kennel fees now they have had to move their 70 dogs into kennels, below are the lovely podencos which they rescued from the perrera. Pilar says ‘they were rescued by our organization many months ago, but we have not enough money to feed them or pay vet fees because we have no association helping us – our only income is adoption money. That’s why we need the dogs to find families and for Podencos it is so difficult!
These two above are Pele and Mele, brothers, Podenco Maneto – which is a small type, dachshund size and shape. Lugo (1st below) is also a Podenco Maneto. Order below is Lugo, Eyes, Tita, Paula, Risi and Toby – all young dogs with a long life ahead of them.

Animales Rioja refuge flooded out, please donate to pay for dogs to go in kennels
Animales Rioja land is now full of water because of the non stop raining. Bea and the rest of the volunteers are taking the dogs to put safe, but they need donations to place them in residences. Podenco Campanero, Podenco Andaluz – Rioja rescues
Two more fabulous podencos with Protectora Rioja, praying for forever homes.
THOR is an angel, a big softy Podenco Campanero. He is very gentle and affectionate, weighs 33 kg, very sociable with other dogs, great with people. (SOS Animals have just found a forever home in the UK for another Campanero Chaplin)
Claudia is a pretty young choc female Podenca Andaluz, very friendly, her whole body moves as she wags her tail. Just wants somebody to accept her love for the rest of her life.

La Rioja – more than just winery tours – Animales Rioja
Clint is a beautiful rough haired Podenco Ibicenco who was rescued from the Rioja perrera. He has a problem with his sight, probably because in his past life he has been kept in the dark.
Little Podenca Andaluz Rubia (see below) has also been rescued from the perrera; she is very thin and malnourished. She now seeks a warm house where she can recover and be beautiful!

URGENT- young podencas on death row, Rioja, Logorno, 21 Jan is ‘die day’.
This appeal was sent out today (20.1.2012). I am not sure if the dogs have had a reprieve, I think they may be killed tomorrow 21/1, rather than 19/1. So I’m sending out the appeal for help for them. A Kennel or foster home urgently needed so they can be got out. We’re talking about Rioja and Logrono immediately.
Dora is a small young podenca, nervous, hasn’t known affection. When she advances, she is very sweet, just needs a loving home to be a star.
Moka (below) is another young female podenca. She is skinny, her eyes are fearful, she doesn’t trust. And yet, if she could be rescued now, she will bloom, put on weight and her coat will shine. She will show the joy of life she deserves.
