Found in a dumpster, thrown away like garbage. One more victim of hunting in Spain.
They used it, exploited it, and when it no longer served them, they threw it away without remorse. This is how thousands of hunting dogs end up every season: invisible, discarded, mistreated to the end.
This little one was found inside a dumpster, without strength, without hope. Only thanks to the protector who rescued him does he have a chance to move on.

Indifference kills.
This Sunday 14 September we raise our voices for those who could not defend themselves.
32 lives killed by starvation and neglect in Azuaga (Badajoz). They were not forgotten. It was not an accident. It was cruelty.
245 animal protection entities, including some international ones, unite to demand justice and that this massacre never happens again https://plataformanac.org/concentracion-azuaga-14…/
Dozens of dogs have died between suffering, indifference and silence. We cannot allow barbarism to go unpunished.
This Sunday, September 14, from 11h to 13h, in Plaza de la Merced (opposite the Azuaga City Hall), we will raise our voice for those who no longer have it.
Because their life matters. Because they’re not tools. Because neglect and abuse kills.
Come. Shout. Spread the word. Let it not be repeated.
We would like to create a Network of Volunteers in Portugal. If you feel you can help in anyway: fostering, driving, taking photos, raising funds, please contact us email podengos@protonmail.com

Martinica is in foster in the UK. Here’s her story.
Helloooo! I’m Martinica! Yes, yes, yes…..that’s right, I’ve got THREE legs!! I’m used to the double takes now!
Don’t let my three legs fool you! Being a Tripaw is my SUPERPOWER!! I’m a fast, strong and smart young Podenco! Now I’m safely in foster in Cardiff, I’m overcoming my traumas, learning all about the world and realising how amazing life can be.
Here comes Gandalf and his story immediately captured our hearts. Gandalf is a Podenco Campanero – he is 4-5 years old and he is deaf. He was separated from his master because he went to a nursing home. And then unfortunately his master died very quickly. He had called every day and asked for Gandalf. But that can’t be a phone call anymore.
Gandalf is a super sweet and affectionate male. He gets along with other dogs and very friendly with people. Gandalf is looking for a very experienced home or foster home due to his deafness. We are just incredibly sorry for him. Is there a light sight for the beautiful Podenco boy? He is already neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and tested negative for Mediterranean diseases.
Penny is a two year old Andalusian podenca saved from a pound. She had a fracture on a front leg. She had surgery and she is fine, she can run quite fast and she is not in pain. But sometimes she still holds it up.
Small size around 40 cm to the shoulders. She is terrified of men. She is shy with unknown women but once she trusts you, she is very affectionate. Very social with other dogs. Very playful. Cat workable. Negative to Leishmania.
She needs a house with fenced garden in a calm environment without kids and with at least another playful dog.
She is not very good on a leash because she is scared of everything and she tries to escape.

Have you thought about it, meditated, balance the pros and cons… but you don’t want a dog that’s too “active”.. Have you thought about a grandpa or grandma?
And why not?….. Growing up doesn’t mean they have nothing left to give..
They are caring, calm, understand perfectly the basic rules, they do not need so much activity as a younger one, they have not lost curiosity to know new places and things
Pinta is an adorablerough haired 9 year old podenca. She has lived all her life on a patio.
She is a very sweet, cute and affectionate girl once she knows you. Small size, 38-40 cm to the shoulders. Cat workable. Social with dogs. Calmish.
Negative to Leishmania.

Older dogs often get overlooked but they can be wonderful companions with many years of life left in them. We adopted 2 older podencos, sadly lost one to stomach cancer but Rosie is still full of beans and enjoying a comfy loving home.
