    The government put 20 statues of dogs in the streets of Barcelona. To make people ware not to abandon dogs. The dogs are wearing a QR code which tells the story of an abandoned dog….This is great !! Story here with a map of the sites.

    I am a Dog!

    I feel emotions, just as you do. Just like you I feel Love, I feel Fear, I feel Pain and Joy. I also feel Grief!

    I am not born knowing how to fit into your life. I will sometimes get it wrong. Sometimes I will not understand what you expect. I may fear things or act in a way you don’t understand. I may not understand how you are acting, or that strangers to the home mean no harm. I may not know what is acceptable to play with and what is not! I have to be taught these things, just as you had to be taught as a child.
    I am an individual, and just like you may not fit exactly into your expectations.
    Please teach me. I like to learn. I like to please. I love to be loved.
    Just because I may make mistakes please don’t discard me.
    I should not be an ‘until’ dog. I should be a forever dog!

    Just like you, I feel Love! I feel Grief!

  • 3 podencos in Granada – sad, scared, needing homes

    Adopt, welcome, we need!!

    These three podenquitos, two females, and a male, have been picked up by the area of the boat, in a cave house, next to the dead body of its owner… 🙁

    Apparently he’d been in that state for a few days.. and they didn’t move from his side. Imagine how they are.. Sad, scared..

    They need a home, they need a lot of love.

    Help!

  • Gran Canaria – 7 podencos die but 90 podencos de Mogan still suffer

    Can you believe the authorities in Gran Canaria? They prosecute this podenco owner for killing his 7 dogs but they STILL do nothing for the 90 podencos moved from Mogan and which the volunteer group are still trying to get released. they are enclosed, puppies being born, dogs dying, but the crap authorities STILL won’t admit there is a problem?!!!

  • Benidorm/Alicante – podenca rescued from the road needs a shelter

    The following message arrived in my Inbox from a lady living in the mountains inland from Benidorm/Alicante. At the moment the podenca is safe but she needs to go to a shelter for an association to help home her. Please contact Gilly if you can help.

    ‘Wwe rescued a podenco from the side of the road a couple of days ago. She looked as though she was injured, we managed to get her into the car and had her checked by our vet. The injury is an old one and has calloused over causing her to limp when walking and leaving her with a big lump on her knee.

    She is young, about 2. Had no problems that the vet could see apart from the healed injury. She has not been blood tested yet but we will get that done as a priority and then get her vaccinated. She deserves more than being in a pen for the rest of her life.

    Is there an association which can take her please.’

  • La Palma podencos update

However, because of the photos circulated by Aanipal on Social Media, the Mayor of Santa Cruze was forced to take action, the owner of the dogs gave temporary access and there is a lawyer appointed to mediate between Aanipal and the owner. (Apparently there are other caves on the Island where dogs are incarcerated in these conditions!)

    5 podencos were rescued from the mountain prison. One has severe dermatitis skin problems and Aanipal are appealing for donations of salmon to feed her and other dogs suffering the same problem. I have asked for a contact for where to send it, as they are only on facebook. Here are the latest photos below of the 5 podencos enjoying the sunshine, plus pups with one of the bitches!

    Here’s what Aanipal say.

    ‘We need some salmon for her. She’s the skinny one who came and also has skin dermatitis.

    It is not the only animal we have in the shelter which needs this kind of feed for its skin, which we are spending quickly. If anyone can get us some bags, we appreciate it from heart
