    That’s why you’ll be as shocked to discover that dozens of today’s top-selling brands – names you thought you could trust, like Beneful, Pedigree, Purina and more – may not contain the wholesome, healthy ingredients you want for your dog.

    Take Beneful. The package makes it look like manna from heaven with a healthy pup, fresh veggies, and what look like real chunks of meat. Unfortunately, the pictures make the food seem better than it is. The reality is this stuff is AWFUL for your dog. It’s full of sugar, artificial colors, and 3 unnamed animal sources. And very little vegetables.

  • Tenerife, Canary Islands – rules for keeping dogs and cats

    Canary Islands one podenco 400 3 2017Further to a couple of articles I published last week about cock fighting and hunting dogs on the island of Tenerife, Canary Islands, here are the rules for the keeping of dogs and cats there as recently decreed. It’s that man again…probably lives in a cave and seems to be blind!

    “Two issues listed in an annexe and in a single additional disposition of the new ordinance of animals of Santa Cruz, Tenerife, pending publication in the official bulletins after it was adopted in plenary on the last month of January 2017, would make it almost impossible to possess and transport hunting dogs in the conditions that the majority of practitioners of this modality now do, assures the President of the Society of hunters Chicharreros, Antonio Porras, who recently addressed this theme to the elected representatives of Citizen Security and Environment, Zaida Gonzalez and Carlos Correa, respectively.

  • Deanimals Murcia – supporting the new Animal Ambulance

    Hospital service 400 1 3 2017A new project has been created by Angel Navarro Perez and Ambulorca which aims to help families who have an accident travelling with animals in their car which will rescue and protect physically and psychologically these animals, thus giving, security and peace to the emotionally wounded famuly, if they have to be taken by ambulance to a hospital. An Ambulance will up people and take them to the hospital and, in turn, another special “ambulance of Lorca” will assist the animals simultaneously and will activate a protocol of animal welfare, with the support of a great professional team of multidisciplines.

    Deanimals lawyer Raquel López Teruel says this is a great initiative and a necessary project that will help a lot of lives of people and animals.

    The project has been at the Congress of the Spanish Society of Medicine and the ER.

  • Guimar, Tenerife, Canary Islands – calling for the end of animal abuse

    The mayoress of Güímar, Carmen Luisa Castro Dorta (PP), met recently representatives of the United Canary Network Against the Animal Cruelty, Abel Román and Domingo Chávez, who promised to present a plenary motion to ask for the end of cock fighting and hunting with dogs, and that the Government of the Canaries dedicates 50 % of its budget for investigation into projects without using laboratory animals.

    Güímar will ask for the support of the remaining municipalities of the Island to these proposals in the next meeting of the Canary Federation of Municipalities (Fecam), with the target to raise in common to the Government of Canaries the prohibition of cock fighting and hunting with dogs.

    Román and Chávez explained to the mayoress “the gravity of the current situation on animal maltreatment” in the Islands, and requested the support of the mayoress to start “immediate measurements against the abuse and cruelty to animals”.

    Let’s hope they make some positive progress.

    You’ll note they are all natural mixes. I never buy from my vet or pet stores. Science Diet and Royal Canin are two which these places sell but that’s because they get commission on every sack, not because they are the best!
